Artist Statement:
We see things every day. Cars, flowers, trees, sunsets. But in this day and age we rush by and hardly have time to process what we see. My artwork draws out the extraordinary of the plain and simple. I love to use rich colors that catch the eye and draw it towards something you maybe don't see every day. My artwork comes in diverse styles such as realism and impressionism. My latest artwork features old trucks in the midst of thriving vegetation. Art has always provided a safe place for me. A place to feel happy and a place to feel peace. My goal is to give my viewers the same peace, joy and comfort that painting has given me.
Some people do yoga. Other people jog. Others play games or read a book. But for Janette, the key to relaxation is art. Whether holding the brush in her fingers or gazing at a Monet, it "makes her heart happy". Janette has always loved painting. She received a scholarship for art and attended Utah Sate Eastern. As a mother of four, she created a beautiful balance between raising  children and creating stunning works of art. Now that her kids have moved out, its her turn to jump-start her career as an independent artist. Janette shares her art in galleries as well as art festivals around the United States

Art form: Jewelry made from antique/historic/world beads

I call my product “wearable artifacts” because I incorporate antique, historic, and world beads and other elements into new creations. You can consider it to be an artistic form of upcycling or recycling, and many of my elements are made from recycled glass or other elements. Basically, I take beads of the past, often over 100 years old, and give them a new stage of life for the present times… and because the beads will outlive us all, they will prevail into the future. We are but one stop in their overall existence and have a responsibility to them as their temporary owners during our lives and times.

I am a bead historian, a member of the Society of Bead Researchers and several international bead collector groups who collaborate and enable each other in this addiction to beautiful beads - past, present, and future. Our members, my collaborators, include many international bead artists, plus the authors of the most notable bead research books and journals. I am on the board of the Summerfest Arts Faire as Artist Coordinator, am also a former coordinator of the Winter Gift Market, and presently a co-owner of the Gypsy Soul Market.
