Jon “Scott” Bushman is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. Bushman developed an interest in art at an early age. He attended Highland High School in Salt Lake City, taking art classes from noted Utah artists Harold Peterson, Jack Vigos and Dale Gibbs. At the University of Utah he continued his art studies with Alvin Gittins, Douglas Snow and Robert S. Olpin.
After graduation from the University of Utah, Bushman accepted a job with the U.S. Forest Service which eventually led to a 30-year career in Fire and Forestry on the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Logan, Utah.
While working for the U.S. Forest Service Bushman continued to paint and exhibit his work part time, focusing predominately on western landscapes. His job in fire suppression has taken him to some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes in North America and the vastness of central Siberia. It is this deep connection and love of the natural landscape that has been the inspiration for much of his work.
Bushman has traveled and painted throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and Siberia in Central Russia. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions, art shows and plein air events throughout Utah and the Intermountain West. His work can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Russia, Europe and Mexico.
