Guest Artist: Jay Garr
Logan native Jay Garr began carving ostrich eggs in the mid 1990s after seeing the art form and deciding to teach himself. Drawn to quiet, detailed work, Jay experimented with different types of eggs before discovering that ostrich eggs offered the strength and glowing beauty he loved working with.
For many years he carved mainly for his own enjoyment, creating pieces only occasionally for people who specifically asked for one or for private collectors. This limited 2025 collection is the first time in many years his work has been shown publicly.
Each egg is carved slowly by hand using a fine rotary tool, then softly lit from within to reveal its warm, luminous design. No two pieces are ever the same.
